“Winter is not a season, it’s a celebration.”

We went to the Hongcheon Ice Fishing Festival, and wow, what an experience!
If you’re a fan of winter festivals,
this one definitely deserves a spot at the top of your list.

The whole atmosphere was so lively and fun. Of course, the star of the show is the ice fishing.
It was my first time ever trying it, and honestly, I didn’t expect it to be so exciting.
You literally drill a hole in the ice and drop your fishing line in.

For those who might not want to brave the cold, there’s also indoor fishing.
It was a great option, especially for families with kids or
anyone who wanted a break from the freezing temperatures.
The fish are in a big pool, so it’s easier and warmer to fish indoors without missing out on the fun.

But the best part? You get to eat whatever you catch right away!
We caught a Hongcheon trout, which is famous for being fed with ginseng, so it has this amazing, unique flavor.
You can either take it home or enjoy it right there, raw or grilled.
Definitely a taste I won’t forget.

But if fishing isn’t your thing,
there’s plenty of other activities to enjoy, like ice sledding.
We went zooming down the ice slopes, laughing all the way!
What we loved most about the Hongcheon Winter Festival was how it combined nature, culture, and adventure.
Whether you’re a pro or a first-timer like me, there’s something for everyone,
and the scenery alone is worth the trip.
