In 2007, the local people came together and started the Pyeongchang Trout Festival
to help rebuild the economy after the big flood in 2006 that affected Odaecheon,
where you can find class 1 fish and otters.
Now it has become one of the most famous Ice Fishing Festivals in Korea!

Mona Yongpyong Ski Resort, located in Pyeongchang, South Korea,
is a premier destination for skiing and winter sports in Asia.
As a host venue for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics,
it boasts world-class facilities, including high-speed lifts and ski schools.
We recommend having lunch at Yongpyong resort before heading to the Festival,
as the prices might be pretty expensive on-site.
There are a lot of different lunch options at Yongpyong.
There are 2 main areas where you can enjoy lunch: Dragon Plaza and Tower Plaza.
Dragon Plaza food court (1F)
There is a food court inside the building. with a lot of street food or more conventional restaurants.
Here is a small selection of restaurants available; you can also explore by yourself to find what suits you the most!

๐ Bare-handed Fish Catching Experience ๐

The famous thing about the trout festival is catching trout with bare hands!
In Pyeongchang, where trout farming first began,
the trout is meatier, tastier, stronger, and more satisfying than those from other regions.
Rules:
- One fish per person only.
- Success requires using both hands to catch the fish.

Tent: 39,000KRW per person (Max 2. per tent) / Ice fishing general: 25,000KRW, Elementary school: 15,000KRW

You can buy fishing gear at the on-site shop,
and the trout you catch can be prepared as sashimi or grilled at the food village,
offering a convenient and enjoyable experience.
Rules:
- Maximum 2 people per tent. Fee is per person.
- Catching is unlimited, but only 2 fish per person can be taken out
Fishing Gear is Not included in the ice fishing price. Visitors must bring their own gear or purchase it.
A fishing gear shop is located on the way to the fishing area.
Enjoy the thrill of ice fishing and cook your catch right away for double the fun!
You can also choose to bring your fish home.

The grilling and sashimi areas are located next to the main ticket office.
Fees:
- 4,000KRW per fish for grilling or sashimi preparation
You can choose how you want your fish to be prepared,
we definitely recommend to try the two ways!
How to grill?
- Pay at the ticket office, then submit the ticket at the grilling station before entering.
- A number ticket will be provided. Return 15 minutes later to collect your food.
