Ice Hockey
Ice hockey is a winter sport in which the athletes use their sticks to put a rubber-made puck into the opposition goal. It is very popular in North America, Northern and Eastern Europe, whilst it is widely regarded as a national pastime in Canada in particular.
An ice hockey game is played in three periods of 20 minutes, which account for 60 minutes in total. There are 15-minute breaks between the periods, and in case of a draw after three periods, five minutes of sudden-death extra time follow after a three-minute break. However, this only applies in regular seasons or in the group stage of the Olympic Games, whilst in playoffs or in the tournament phase, 20 minutes of extra time ensue after a 15-minute break. And if the winners are not decided after extra time, three players from each team will face off against the opposition goalie in a shootout.
Gangneung Jungang Market
Gangwon-do’s representative traditional market, Jungang Market opened in 1980 as a permanent market. The market is divided into two main parts; one is a traditional market and the other is an underground fishery market.
The second floor has a restaurant and coffee shops. Vendors display their products along the street, providing a typical scene of a traditional market and an opportunity to learn about the life of people in Gangneung.
Hyangho Beach
The "Hyangho Beach Bus Stop" in the Jumunjin district of Gangneung, Gangwon Province, ranked first in a popularity poll of BTS filming locations across Korea conducted by the Korea Tourism Organization on 22,272 fans in 137 countries
Anmok Beach Coffee Steet
Anmok Beach spans over 500 meters in length and covers an area of 20,000 square meters. The beach is often packed with families on vacation.
Right in front of the beach is Anmokhang Port, where around 23 fishing boats can be moored to unload their catch of seaweed in the spring; flatfish, squid, and octopus in the summer; and sailfin sandfish, and pollack in the fall and winter.
The place has also become more popular since the main street along the beach earned the reputation as a "coffee street."
