Freestyle Skiing
It all started in the 1930s when Norwegian skiers began to show off their acrobatic skills between training sessions of Alpine and cross-country skiing. After that, an exhibition was held in the United States where professional skiers participated in non-competitive events, which would be later called Freestyle. In the Olympic Winter Games, there are six disciplines including Moguls, Aerials, Halfpipe, Ski Cross, Slopestyle and Big Air.
In the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024, the events include Men’s/Women’s Slopestyle, Big Air, Ski Cross, Halfpipe, Dual Moguls, as well as Mixed Dual Moguls and Mixed Ski Cross.
Snowsledge in High1 Resort
A dreamy ski resort created by nature High1 Ski Resort is located in the "High1" ski resort in a clean place in Gangwon-do. It has 18 fantastic ski trails that descend from 3 hills. This is a beginner-level ski resort for first-time skiers. The ski trails have also been recognized by the majority of tourists.
Ride the cable car up to the top of the 1,345-meter-high mountain, which is the starting point of the 4.2-kilometer-long line that slowly descends along the top of the mountain. There are also Gangwon Great World Amusement Park, amusement parks and theme parks inside, hiking trails, sledding, golf courses and other places, which are very popular with family groups. Unamjeong (Korean traditional Tea Experience)
Located inside a Gwangwon-do Province resort, Unamjeong is an upscale Korean restaurant that features traditional dishes served in many different styles such as ilpum (main individual dishes), hanjeongsik (set dishes), natgoetsang (lunch) consisting of banga dishes (noble class cooking style), sikgaek (gourmet) bansang, sura jeongsik (royal court meal) and jineobyeol manchan (feast).
The restaurant is largely divided into Bongwan (main restaurant), Daryegwan (tea house), Hwangjeonggwan and Sikgaekgwan (separate guest rooms), and Suratgan (kitchen), and has Unamji Pond and Unmaru Pavilion in its yard. Thanks to its authentic traditional meals and charming ambiance, Unamjeong is widely sought after by many for family gatherings and other occasions, including filming of Korean drama Sikgaek starring Kim Jeong-eun and Jin Gu.
High1 Wellness Center
For those seeking a personal wellness retreat within walking distance from the resort and casino facility, the High1 Wellness Center offers a tranquil haven. A 15-minute stroll from the resort, this sanctuary is a soothing space that opened in May, turning a forest book cafe into a relaxing refuge.
Open from early in the morning until evening, the center hosts a range of wellness classes, including forest walking meditation, tension-relieving meditation, yoga, fascia relaxation yoga, natural forest experiences and starlight sessions.
